South India’s Largest Plastic Recycling Facility Inaugurated at Vizag

January 18, 2021

Ramky Enviro Engineers Limited (REEL), inaugurated South India’s largest plastic recycling facility in JN Pharma City, in Visakhapatnam.

With a capacity to recycle 1 MT/hour, the 3-acre facility is housed with state-of-the-art infrastructure that can recycle a wide range of plastic to produce high-quality recycled plastic granules that can be used in plastic product manufacturing and packaging.

India produces up to 9.4 million tonnes of plastic waste, of which less than 40% is processed and the rest is disposed of untreated. The majority of the recycling in India is carried out by the informal sector resulting in improper treatment of plastic waste.

The establishment of this facility will significantly reduce the growing stress of plastic waste management in our country, which is expected to rise to 31.2 million tonnes of plastic waste being produced by 2030.

To recycle plastic waste and reduce its impact on the environment, the facility will pave way for conscious and sustainable disposal practices across various sectors in the system.
